From Dark Skies to Cutting-Edge Tech: A March at H&W HQ
The Art of Play and Performance
March kicked off with a healthy dose of competition. We spent two days filming a new advert for the tabletop game Carrooka, taking over local pubs, family homes, and offices to capture the game in action. The best shoots are the ones where the cast completely forget there’s a camera running because they’re too busy trying to win—and Carrooka definitely had that effect on them!
While we were chasing the fast-paced energy of game night, we also took a moment to capture something a little more serene. We had the pleasure of filming the new exhibition at York Art Gallery, Making Waves: The Art of Japanese Woodblock Prints. It was a privilege to document such iconic, intricate work and help bring the calm, intentional beauty of the gallery to a wider digital audience.

Back at H&W HQ, our office has been transformed into a permanent set for the Running Loose Podcast. Working alongside our friends at Button Down, we’ve been providing the camera work and the backdrop for Francesca Cumani and Vanessa Ryle. It’s been fantastic to see our own space evolve into a hub for top-tier sports broadcasting. You can watch the entire series on ITVx.

Driving the Future of Industry
Innovation has been a major theme this month. We’ve been deep in the world of high-level tech, including:
Greenhouse OS: Capturing video testimonials for their game-changing CRM system.
Multiverse & QS: Documenting how AI skills training is fundamentally reshaping modern business.
Rolls Royce: A three-day intensive shoot producing technical training videos.
LiveLab: While we have to keep the details under wraps for now, we’ve been documenting their mind-blowing work in XR and audio technology. Seeing the complexity of what they do firsthand has been a highlight of the month.

Meaningful Stories, Closer to Home
Beyond the tech and the toys, we’ve been proud to use our lenses to highlight vital community initiatives. We worked with Ageing Better to produce a 10-minute film for the Good Homes Hub in Lincolnshire. This was a significant project, screened for Ministers and key policymakers (the real influencers!) to advocate for better housing solutions in the UK.
Closer to our York roots, we collaborated with City of York Council on a campaign for their Health Trainers scheme, helping young families access better nutrition and exercise. We also hit the road for Visit York, catching North Yorkshire just as the spring sun began to show its face.
Data with a Soul
Finally, we stepped into the world of animation for SDDS. In a world where data is often used for mindless consumerism, we loved creating a piece that flipped the script. Their work uses data to power research and solve real-world problems, and it was a pleasure to bring that vision to life through motion.
